If you own a computer you have probably heard about data recovery software at one point or another. The fact of the matter is that most people don’t actually understand how data recovery software works. Data recovery software is actually one of the most useful and helpful things you can have for a computer. There are two different types of data recovery software. Each type has a similar function, but gets the job done in a different way. Both types of data recovery software work will, but you will have to decide which type ultimately meets your needs.
The first type of data recovery software saves files onto a back up hard drive that’s next to your computer. The fact of the matter is that this is one of the least cost efficient methods of data recovery. The reason for this is that you have to purchase a back up hard drive which can cost as much as one hundred dollars or more. The one advantage this type of software is that you have a tangible copy of your files. The only problem is that if you lose the backup hard drive you are out of luck! The next method of data recovery is much more cost efficient.
The next type of data recovery software involves saving files to an online backup folder. This type of data recovery software is much more cost efficient because it does not require you to purchase an additional hard drive. The other great thing about this type of software is that your files are saved automatically as you save them. For example, if you save a word document onto your computer the data recovery program will automatically save that file onto your online backup drive at the same time. If you were to use the first method of data recovery you would have to manual transfer most of your files onto the hard drive. Let’s take a look at how the different types of data recovery programs works:
- The first type of data recovery requires you to purchase an extra hard drive
- The second type of data recovery uploads your files automatically to an online hard drive
- The first type of data recovery program requires you to manually transfer files from one hard drive to the other
Either way, having a data recovery program on your computer is a great way to protect the most valuable files on your computer. It’s a small investment to make for peace of mind!
